Best of NY Newborn and Family Photography | 2020 Recap
I know it has been said many times before, but 2020 was a challenging one. It was filled with stress, loss, frustration, sadness, but it also allowed me to see how much I truly have to be thankful for. It highlighted what was most important in our lives. It gave me time to pause and dream more than I ever have before.
Well before the pandemic, I had a small dream of opening a studio. I would casually drive around and take photos of places that were available to rent. I dreamt of a space to expand my family portrait offerings. A place that was warm and inviting, even in the midst of our long Winters in upstate NY. It would allow me to showcase all the printed products I had to offer and further relationships with those I met along the way of my small business journey.
At the beginning of the pandemic, when everything felt like it was falling apart, that dream disappeared. It wasn’t until the end of May that that dream started to inch back into my life, after a few months of serious panic and pause. By the end of September, I walked through the perfect space. In December, I signed a lease to my first studio, which is expected to open in May of 2021.
One of the reasons that dream came back was because of all the amazing families I was able to work with in 2020. They stepped up to make me feel special in a year when I was told that what I do for a living was non-essential. I hope each and every family knows exactly how special they are to me. They brought life back into my business. They brought back the dreaming. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
